The Equalls Origin Story
Equalls was born out of a simple but powerful need for connection. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Michael Ventura, founder of Sub Rosa, found himself navigating uncharted waters alone. He reached out to a group of agency founders looking to brainstorm with others navigating the same challenges. Those early conversations started with the challenges of the pandemic — from what to do with office space to “what the hell is a PPP loan,” but quickly evolved into deep discussions about everything from client dynamics and growth strategies to personal challenges that come with leadership. Over time, the group became an invaluable space for open dialogue, mutual support, and shared wisdom.
Even after Michael sold his agency, the group remained intact, reinforcing the idea that once you’ve been in the trenches of agency leadership, you understand the unique highs and lows of the journey. Today, Equalls continues to provide that essential support system, expanding its reach to new leaders eager to engage in meaningful, real-world conversations about running and growing an agency or brand.
